DIY

I love DIY. I have so much fun doing it. I literally wander around our house looking for stuff to DIY. Since we bought a house I have been having a little fun with DIY here and there. Here are a couple of my masterpieces.

My first project was to take my old (but cute) dining room set and turn it into an outdoor patio set. The total cost for our project ended up being $15, which was thin outdoor vinyl (for between the cushion and fabric so the cushion won't mildew if it rains) and then upholstery fabric. (2 yards of each)

Patio set on the deck. (Please ignore the ugly paint job from the previous owners. It looks much better now and I will post pictures soon)

My second (recent) project was to make our ugly white door look better. Sean wants to buy a new door eventually but I figured a quart of paint for $15 would be an easy simple fix for now and I am not going to lie, I really love how it turned out.

I forgot to take before pics but here is the door after the first coat of paint.

Up close (and personal). I really love the vinyl on the door, which matches the trim on the house :)

Loooong Time, No Posting

Holy Cow! It has been way to long since we posted on here (I blame Sean). Anyway, we have been super duper busy on the house. I don't know if Sean has any of the ugly before pictures but I will try and post some of the wonder after pictures.

I would share more like the living room but I don't want to take pictures of the ugly furniture for now; the new (pretty) stuff is due any day and I can hardly contain my excitement.

New House

Well yesterday as most of you know was the closing on Hannah and I’s first house on 2805 Francis St. in Yankton.  Very stressful day but a good night’s sleep was much needed last night to clear the mind!  Made a few phone calls to get new gutters put on by Merkel Siding in the upcoming weeks since the hail beat them up pretty bad late last year.  Painting will be the first thing on the agenda since the whole house needs it (inside and out).  After the painting we plan on getting the carpets cleaned and air ducts as well since we have all of these wonderful Midwest allergies.  Last week I purchased a new storm door at Lowes for the front of the house with a nickel finish that will look pretty sharp.  Thanks to Mr. Brown last night we had a few Summer Shandy’s and gave Hannah’s parents (Gary and Cindy), James and Erin, Janet and Galen, all a tour of the house.  I put them to work right away because there was some “Chinese” window clings on the windows that were fried on and needed to be removed with a few razor blades.  I wanted to keep them but Hannah would not let me.  I plan on taking a before and after video of the house because I remember Mom and Dad doing the same with there’s.  Definitely would be something fun to look back on.  I’ll get that out to everyone since some of you can’t actually see the house yet or won’t be able to see the before affect!  This morning Scott Hansen came out to the house to put new locks on so at least we know it’ll be safe and secure.  Friday when Hannah gets back we’ll start to do a little painting and Saturday we plan to get most of the interior painted with Mom and Dad’s help!  Next week I will be gone to Minnetonka, MN for some American Family training so we hope to get a good kick start on the house before I leave.  I will be sending everyone updates on the house not only just to keep you guys informed but it will also help us think of what we all need to do.  Come join the fun!
